Apparently the discovery of Roman ruins somewhere in the foundations of the new Peninsula Paris on Avenue Kléber held proceeding up a little but the signs are good. The scaffolding is down and now you can now see what the elegant hotel looks like. It is housed in a magnificent 1908 historic building, formerly The Hotel Majestic, and much of the original faced has been preserved. The hotel is situated in the exclusive in the exclusive 16th arondissment, just a few stiletto steps away from the Champs Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe.
This will be Peninsula's first European offering and it has been much-anticipated, especially by us (we confess it was on our list of 2013 top hotel opens too - c'est la vie)
TLTB loves the attention to detail lavished on every new Peninsula offering so we just know this one will be a cut above the crowd too. The Parisian hotel scene had had a luxury shake up in the last few years, with Asian hoteliers arriving on the scene - Raffles, and Shangri-La to name but two - and the arrival of the Peninsula will stir the pot a little more. Oo la la.
